LEFKOSA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a message to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu on the occasion of anniversary of July 20 Peace Operation.
In his message, Erdogan said, ''Turkish Cypriot people, who had been suffered from inhumane treatment for long years reached tranquility and security with July 20 Peace Operation which Turkey made within the scope of its duties stemming from international agreements. Turkey will continue to be the guaranty of peace and stability and fulfil its duties for tranquility and prosperity of Turkish Cypriot people in the island.''
Erdogan added that he would like to commemorate Turkish martyrs who lost their lives for the sake of national cause on the day of freedom of Turkish Cypriot people.
TRNC Prime Minister Eroglu who also sent a message to Erdogan said that July 20 Peace Operation which was a turning point in process till the foundation of TRNC paved the way for Turkish Cypriot people to have freedom by ending inhumane treatment from which Turkish Cypriot people had suffered for long years.
Stating that Turkish Cypriot people who showed their friends and enemies how they were determined in their struggle for freedom embraced Turkey 29 years ago and history of Turkish Cypriot people changed, Eroglu added that Turkish Cypriot people would overcome all problems with cooperation and solidarity with Turkey.
