MONTREAL - At least three Canadian soldiers were injured Friday in a traffic accident north of Kandahar in Afghanistan, CBC television reported.
The network said the injuries were not life-threatening.
Canadian defense ministry officials could not immediately be reached by AFP for comment, but a CBC correspondent in Kandahar said that one or more Canadian soldiers had also been wounded in a separate incident. The details of that incident were still being worked out, according to the reporter.
In February, Canada took over command of the international force charged with hunting down the fundamentalist Taliban militia in southern Afghanistan. Ottawa has some 2,300 troops in the region.
Since the Canadian mission in Afghanistan was launched in 2002, 11 Canadian soldiers have been killed there. A Canadian diplomat was also killed in a car bomb attack earlier this year.
