LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Parliament Speaker Vehbi Zeki Serter said on Friday that Turkish Cypriots wanted a respectful and fair solution.
Serter received Azerbaijani deputies, who came to TRNC to attend the ceremonies to be held to mark July 20 Peace and Freedom Day.
Speaking at the meeting, Serter expressed his pleasure with presence of Azerbaijani deputies at ceremonies on the Peace and Freedom Day on July 20.
Noting that Turkish Cypriot people had suffered extremely bad days in the past, Serter said, ''Turkish Cypriots acquired right of freely and humanly living after 1974. They have founded their own state and succeeded in surviving. Republic of Turkey have recognized our state.''
Pointing out that they had been holding talks with Azerbaijani deputies at the European Union (EU) Council, Serter said, ''we hope that Upper Karabakh dispute between Azerbaijan and Armenia will be resolved in a short period of time.''
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani delegation chairman Ikbal Agazade said in his part that they considered TRNC a part of Turkish territories.
Agazade added they believed that TRNC would take its desired place in the world.
