Gen. Jones In Ankara

ANKARA - Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and the Commander of the United States European Command (COMUSEUCOM) Gen. James Jones came to Ankara on Friday.
Jones who started his contacts in General Staff, will leave Ankara in the afternoon.
Jones is expected to make assessment within the framework of the joint studies of Turkey-U.S. Joint Commission formed to inquire the detention incident in Sulaymaniyah.
U.S. Central Command Chief Gen. John Abizaid will come to Ankara in the evening. Gen. Abizaid who is also expected to hold contacts in General Staff, can also meet with Foreign Ministry officials.
Following his contacts in which Turkey-U.S. relations will be taken up within the scope of Iraq, Gen. Abizaid will leave Ankara on Saturday.
Turkey considers the visit of Gen. Abizaid to Turkey as his first stop while going to the region as a sign of importance attributed to Turkey.
