ANKARA - Turkey repaid a total of 1 billion 107.86 million U.S. dollars in external debt between July 1 and 16, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the Treasury repaid 983.70 million U.S. dollars; the Central Bank repaid 30.97 million U.S. dollars; and the administrations with general and consolidated budget paid the remaining 93.19 million U.S. dollars.
Turkey has repaid 8 billion 947.44 million U.S. dollars in external debt since the beginning of the year.
Turkey repaid 847.51 million U.S. dollars in external debt in January, 1 billion 948.87 million U.S. dollars in February, 1 billion 57.93 million U.S. dollars in March, 915.06 million U.S. dollars in April, 1 billion 133.96 million U.S. dollars in May and 1 billion 936.25 million U.S. dollars in June.
The total external debt repayments in 2002 had been 17 billion 365.18 million U.S. dollars.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVES DECREASE BY USD 598 MILLION
Foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank decreased by 598 million U.S. dollars between July 4-11, 2003.
According to the Central Bank's weekly bulletin, the Central Bank's foreign exchange reserves which were 28 billion 638 million U.S. dollars on July 4, decreased to 28 billion 40 million U.S. dollars on July 11.
Meanwhile, total foreign exchange reserves of banks and private finance organizations decreased 30 million U.S. dollars from 9 billion 304 million U.S. dollars to 9 billion 274 million U.S. dollars between July 4-11.
Meanwhile, the international reserves of Turkey comprising gold reserves and foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank, commercial banks and private finance organizations increased 678 million U.S. dollars from 38 billion 716 million U.S. dollars to 39 billion 394 million U.S. dollars between June 20-27.
