Baykal Leaves For Italy

ISTANBUL - Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal left for Italy on Thursday to attend meeting of the Socialist International.
Prior to his departure, Baykal told reporters that Iraq and Palestinian-Israeli issues would be taken up in the meetings to continue for two days.
Baykal said that officials of the Socialist International visited the region a while ago and the meeting would be held in the light of their impressions.
''On the first day of the meeting, issues like restructuring of Iraq and Iraq's future will be taken up and on the second day, Israeli-Palestinian dispute will be discussed. Iraq and Israeli-Palestinian issues have become prior items of agenda of Socialist International. These two stand as important obstacles before settlement of stability and peace in the world. As CHP, we will express our views and approaches towards Iraq issue,'' Baykal added.
