BRUSSELS - A Belgian court ruled out that Yalcin Ozbey, who was involved in the assassination of prominent Turkish journalist Abdi Ipekci and the attempt to assassinate Pope John Paul II, will be released pending trial.
Ozbey, who is being tried on charges of the crimes he committed in Belgium, is expected to be released tonight or tomorrow, the latest.
In case of any objection to the verdict, the court will re-consider its verdict within 15 days.
Ozbey was arrested in Belgium at the end of March on charges of forming a gang and illegally collecting money.
