Tuzmen Leaves For Pakistan

ISTANBUL - State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Tuesday that exports from Turkey exceeded 21 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of the year and added, ''we will break a record this year. We will make 40 billion U.S. dollars of export.''
Tuzmen left for Pakistan to attend Meeting of Foreign Trade Ministers of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
Prior to his departure, Tuzmen told reporters that current conditions in the region had gained importance gradually in recent days and said that they would review joint cooperation opportunities.
Tuzmen said that as the foreign trade ministers, their aim was to create a common economic ground among member countries.
Their aim could be reached by mutual reduction of customs tariffs, Tuzmen noted.
Stating that they wanted to ensure a customs tariffs partnership around 15 percent, Tuzmen said that achieving that target would be a good opportunity for increasing exports.
Tuzmen added that he would hold bilateral meetings with Pakistani ministers finance, commerce, privatization, water and power.
