ANKARA - Culture and Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu said on Tuesday that Turkey should improve cultural cooperation with Kosovo.
A delegation headed by Behxhet Brajshori, Youth and Sports Minister of Kosovo, visited Mumcu to exchange views about restoration of historical artifacts in Kosovo.
Prior to the meeting, Brajshori said that they aimed to cooperate with Turkey in field of culture from films to music.
Brajshori noted that people of Kosovo and Turkey had a common past and recalled that there were close ties between two nations. He stressed that those ties should be strengthened.
Pointing out that cooperation of Turkey and Kosovo was of utmost importance to preserve cultural heritage, Brajshori said that special projects besides continuing projects could be developed and invited Mumcu to Kosovo.
Mumcu said that they were aware that they should make contributions to improve friendship of Turkey and Kosovo through culture.
One of the projects carried out by Turkey in Kosovo was restoration Murat Hudavendigar Tomb, the tomb of the third Ottoman Sultan, Mumcu noted.
But, he said, only this project was not sufficient.
Emphasizing that Turkey should improve cultural cooperation with Kosovo, Mumcu said that he accepted the invitation of the guest minister and that he planned to visit Kosovo as soon as possible.
Mumcu added that they would have the opportunity to create a more concrete plan during his visit.
