Denktas: The Decision Taken By Greek Cypriot Parliament Does Not Bind Trnc And Its People

LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Monday that the decision taken by the Greek Cypriot parliament to ratify the European Union (EU) membership agreement did not bind TRNC and its people.
Denktas released a statement in which he said that ratification of the EU membership agreement by the Greek Cypriot parliament was an illegal but expected thing.
TRNC President Denktas said, ''an illegal so-called Greek Cypriot administration has ratified its illegal membership application in illegal Greek Cypriot parliament under a false title 'Cyprus parliament.' This was an expected thing. It is time to once more show this illegality to the EU instead of feeling sorry for it.''
Stating that the Greek Cypriot side's EU application aimed to own whole Cyprus, Denktas said, ''they could only own half of the island by guns. They want to gain the rest through the EU and by forgery. They can't do it. The decision they have taken doesn't bind TRNC and its people.''
The EU disregarded every principle it gave importance and priority, in Cyprus issue, Denktas pointed out.
Denktas added, ''nobody can believe that they will protect our rights in a union without Turkey where Greece does whatever it wants. The intrigue was to end Turkish-Greek balance in Cyprus established by international agreements, to own Cyprus, and to make Turkish Cypriots a minority in a Greek Cypriot republic. Annan plan was a means serving this aim. Let's protect our state.''
