ANKARA - International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank experts have begun talks with the executives of the Turkish Treasury Undersecretariat in Ankara, within the framework of the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP), sources said.
Sources indicated that the IMF delegation is chaired by Charles Enoch, while the World Bank delegation is headed by James Hanson.
The experts will meet economy executives and representatives of the financial sector in Ankara and Istanbul, and assess developments recorded in this area.
The IMF-World Bank delegation is expected to stay in Turkey till April 18th.
-IMF'S TECHNICAL DELEGATION-
On the other hand, the IMF technical delegation, which arrived in Ankara last week, continues talks with Treasury executives within the framework of preparations for the third review.
IMF public finance experts met Finance Ministry executives, and received information about social security and tax arrangements which may affect the revenue-expenditure balance in 2006.
Meanwhile, economy executives met IMF First Deputy Managing Director Anne Krueger last week, and told her that the budgetary expenditures (additional payment to civil servants) and VAT reduction (in textile) can be financed, and there is no deviation from the economic program.
