ANKARA - Swedish Parliament Speaker Bjorn Von Sydow underlined that it is important --now than ever before-- to promote dialogue among different cultures and religions.
Sydow sent a letter to Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc, expressing his support to Arinc's call to parliament speakers of European Union (EU) member countries concerning the cartoon crisis.
Stating that he agreed with Arinc that parliaments should collaborate against radical groups provoking violence, Sydow said that to boost dialogue was the only way to remove misunderstandings between the Islam and the West.
Arinc suggested in his letter that dialogue, tolerance and cooperation must prevail instead of xenophobia and Islamophobia, noting that lack of perception and understanding could be abused by some people and/or groups.
