ANKARA - ''The government will not step back from exercising democracy, laws and freedom of expression,'' Justice & Development Party (AKP) leader and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has indicated.
Addressing his party's group meeting in the parliament on Tuesday, Erdogan said --regarding the recent incidents that have occurred in various parts of the country-- that Turkey would not concede to violence. ''We will work to improve further democracy, freedom, justice and prosperity'', he underlined.
''No one should dare to test the power of the state or the nation. We are taking all measures,'' he added.
Erdogan indicated that nongovernmental organizations should assume a joint attitude against terrorist organization PKK, noting that Turkish nation should act with commonsense.
