ANKARA - Human Rights Consultation Board Chairman Ibrahim O. Kaboglu said on Monday that what should be done after adjustment packages was to rearrange basic laws concerning human rights.
Kaboglu delivered a speech at the fourth meeting of Prime Ministry Human Rights Consultation Board.
Stating that they would take up EU adjustment laws, improvement of human rights and implementations regarding human rights in Turkey, function of Human Rights Consultation Board and freedoms at today's meeting, Kaboglu said that the European Union's (EU) ''proposal for the Constitution was important with respect to showing to be a side to the EU.''
He said that the constitutional improvements which focused on human rights and freedoms could not be completed with institutional arrangements.
Kaboglu said that U.N. covenant on civil and political rights and the other covenant on economic, social and cultural rights could be considered children of Universal Declaration of Human Rights and stated that approval of U.N. covenants ended two-faced manner regarding human rights.
Stating that field of human rights was improved and enlarged with adjustment laws, Kaboglu said that however harmony between laws was decreased.
He added, ''what should be done after adjustment packages is to rearrange basic laws concerning human rights.''
''We should also contribute to education studies on human rights,'' he noted.
Kaboglu said that people should not be afraid of freedoms, but misuse of them.
