ISTANBUL - Foreign Minister George Papandreou of Greece came to Turkey on Sunday as the guest of Istanbul's Bilgi University.
New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem and some officials welcomed Papandreou at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Papandreou said that he was very pleased with being in Turkey and added that he and Cem would deliver speeches on Turkish-Greek relations at a ceremony which would be held by Bilgi University on Monday.
Papandreou stated that he was sure that Turkish and Greek youths wanted to have friendly relations in the future and added that both countries should make investment on relations between youths.
Stating that he believed that there should be very sound partnership ties between the two countries and their peoples, Papandreou said that joint works on peace would bring benefits to economic development of the two countries.
Papandreou added that he would also have an opportunity to meet with Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul.
Later, Papandreou visited Kýz Kulesi (Leander's Tower) in Istanbul.
