ANKARA - Main opposition party Republican People's Party (CHP) applied on Wednesday to the Constitutional Court for cancellation of eight articles of the Labor Law.
Holding a press conference in the parliament before presenting their petition, CHP Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairman Oguz Oyan said, ''we consider the Labor Law the law of slavery and pressure.''
Oyan said that they would request the court to annul the Labor Law's Article 7 on temporary employment, Article 14 on employment upon invitation, Article 18 on labor security, Article 20 on arbitration, Article 21 on compensation, Article 41 on weekly work, Article 63 on equalization of work periods, and Article 111 on granting the Labor and Social Security Minister the authority of determining work branches.
Oyan added that they would also request the court to suspend the validity of the Labor Law's Article 30 which limited labor security with thirty workers and Article 21 on compensation.
Oyan defended that the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) which had come to the power with votes of the weak deployed position in favor of the powerful, and it arranged business relations according to this position.
Noting that the government had also condemned nearly four million unemployed people to work for less wage and left them defenseless, Oyan said, ''the name of this is the law of slavery and pressure.''
''This law includes articles which are in contradiction with the Constitution. So we are going to file a lawsuit at the Constitutional Court for cancellation of those articles,'' he added.
Later, Oyan submitted their petition to the Constitutional Court.
