CANAKKALE - ''Aegean Peace and Communication Association'' which was set up to contribute to the Turkish-Greek friendship started its studies to develop relations between the two countries.
Osman Nuri Ozguven, the chairman of the association based in Izmir said that the association was set up to ease communication between Turkish and Greek societies, and make it sustainable and permanent.
''Our association won't be a passive and politic association, it will be in a position to produce new things all the time,'' said Ozguven, adding that they would develop relations such as ''sister city,'' and ''sister school.''
Ozguven stated that the association would carry out academic, technical and social studies and organize festivals in Turkey and Greece.
Ozguven stated that there was another association in Lesbos island of Greece with the same name, adding that they were in continuos communication with that association.
The association's representative in Canakkale Dr. Naci Hasanefendi said in his part that they would launch efforts to improve friendship and cooperation in Aegean, adding that ''our association will produce projects for developing relations. We plan to organize one of our meetings in Canakkale in October 2003.''
