ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul was not expected to cancel his visit to the United States after Turkish soldiers were detained in the north of Iraq by U.S. soldiers at the weekend, diplomatic sources said on Monday.
Diplomatic sources stated that Patriotic Union of Iraqi Kurdistan (PUK) leader Jalal Talabani was not expected to cancel his visit to Ankara, either.
Sources said that Turkish and American officials would discuss ways which would not cause such events in the future during committee talks which would start on Tuesday and stated that Gul and Talabani did not think to cancel their visits.
Gul is expected to go to Washington on July 24 and Talabani is expected to come to Ankara this week.
