ISTANBUL - ``Funeral ceremonies of terrorists were wanted to be turned into propaganda for the terrorist organization PKK. They wanted to portray demonstrations as a public movement. However, they failed,`` said Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc today.
Arinc went to Finland today to meet Finnish Parliament Speaker Paavo Lipponen.
In a press conference held at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Arinc referred to the demonstrations in Diyarbakir as ``sad incidents.`` ``However, the situation is under control,`` noted Arinc.
According to Arinc, only a small number of people participated in illegal demonstrations in Diyarbakir. ``Yet the damage they caused has been extensive,`` told Arinc.
When reminded by a journalist that the order to conduct illegal demonstrations in Diyarbakir was given by the Roj TV in Denmark, Arinc stressed that necessary legal action shall be taken against all parties involved in those illegal demonstrations.
