MUGLA - ``Turkey should move forward toward the EU with a great self-confidence,`` said Hans Jorg Kretschmer, EU Commission`s Representative to Turkey.
Kretschmer told the A.A correspondent on Wednesday that Turkey would contribute a lot to the EU with its multi-dimensional characteristics.
He underlined that Turkey was maintaining its cultural heritage on the one hand, and taking significant steps for its promising future, on the other.
When the correspondent asked, ``Turkey is a Muslim country. What do you think about its impact on the EU?, Kretschmer said that Turkey was going through a modernization and reform process. ``Turkey`s being a Muslim country is not an impediment as regards its adhesion to the EU. On the contrary I think that it (Turkey`s EU accession) will bolster EU`s foreign relations.``
