WASHINGTON - Rifat Hisarciklioglu, Chairman of the Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), held meetings in Washington regarding the future of Enez industrial zone (between Israeli and Palestinian lands) which is envisioned to be conducted by TOBB.
Hisarciklioglu held meetings with U.S. Undersecretary of Defense Department Eric Edelman, officials of U.S. State Department, World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Acting Managing Director Anne Krueger regarding the issue.
He conveyed his views about the necessity of implementation of plans regarding Erez industrial zone.
The agreement, which envisages reconstruction of Erez industrial zone and its management by TOBB, was signed in the beginning of 2006. However, the project`s future has become uncertain because the United States decided to put sanctions on new Palestinian administration led by Hamas.
