WASHINGTON D.C. - Turkey and the United States are allies vital for each other, Gen. Peter Pace, the Chairman of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, has said.
Taking the floor at a dinner held under the 25th Annual Conference of the American Turkish Council (ATC) and the Turkish American Business Council (TAIK) in Washington D.C., Pace stated that he had chance to get more information about Turkey during his visit to Turkey.
Recalling that during his stay there, journalists generally asked him the question when the United States would take action against terrorist organization PKK, Pace underlined that they first focus on formation of a reliable and stable government in Iraq. Pace stated that after a stable government was formed in Iraq, the two countries could work together to solve the problem in the north of Iraq.
Pace stressed that no country could fight terrorism on its own, noting that international cooperation was needed to fight it.
