ISTANBUL - Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim returned from Italy, where he attended European Union (EU) Transportation Ministers Council Meeting, to Turkey on Sunday.
Yildirim told reporters that they expressed Turkey's views on the first day of the meeting held in Naples.
They stressed on ''paying equal importance to transportation network of Southeast European countries covering Turkey'', ''importance of full integration of EU transportation network and network of Southeast European countries'', and ''advantages of broadening of transportation corridors connecting Europe with the Balkans and Turkey in a way that could also connect them with Caucasia, Far East and Middle East,'' Yildirim said.
Yildirim noted that he had the opportunity to meet with EU Commissioner for transportation and infrastructure Loyala de Palacio, Italian Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Pietro Lunardi, and Bulgarian Transportation Minister Plaman Petrov in Italy.
In his meeting with Petrov, the bid submitted by Turk Telekom Inc. and Koc Group for privatization of Bulgar Telekom was evaluated, Yildirim said.
Yildirim added that the result of the tender would be announced within a few weeks.
