LEFKOSA - Leaders of political parties having seats at Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) parliament left for Strasbourg on Sunday to meet with leaders of Greek Cypriot political parties and European Commission officials upon invitation of European Commission Secretary General Walter Schwimmer.
National Unity Party (UBP) leader and Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu, Communal Liberation Party (TKP) leader Huseyin Angolemli, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat and Reformist Initiative Party (YAP) leader Hasan Hasipoglu will proceed to Strasbourg via Istanbul.
Democrat Party (DP) leader, State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas left the island yesterday.
The delegation will attend meeting of the European Commission on Monday during which the Cyprus question will be taken up.
They will hold meetings with chairmen of the Human Rights Commission and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Leaders of Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot political parties will plant a sapling in the park in front of Council of Europe building as a symbol of friendship and peace.
The delegation is expected to return to TRNC on Tuesday.
