Turkish Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) Deputy Chairman and mobile phone operator Telsim Executive Board Chairman Ferruh Tunc said that "TMSF does not wish to administer a company that is sold for a long period. We want to deliver Telsim as soon as possible."
Telsim was acquired by the British telecommunications company Vodafone, which gave the highest bid at the relevant tender. The examination of the license agreement text by the Turkish Council of State is still awaited for the transfer of Telsim to Vodafone. Vodafone gave the highest bid, USD 4,550 bn, in the Telsim tender that was opened by TMSF on December 13, 2005.
