Erdogan Congratulates Italian Prime Minister As Italy Takes Over E.U. Term Presidency

ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi as Italy took over Term Presidency of the European Union (EU).
Prime Ministry Press Center issued a statement and said Erdogan called Berlusconi by phone on Thursday evening at 21.00 local time.
The statement said Erdogan thanked to Berlusconi because of his constructive and supporting statements regarded with Turkey's membership process which he made at the taking-over ceremony.
The statement said, ''the Prime Minister also stated that new national program would be conveyed to the EU Term Presidency. Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi in his part said he would continue to expend support to Turkey during this process. Berlusconi stated that he would back Turkey on every issue.''
