EDIRNE - Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler met on Saturday Bulgarian Economy & Energy Minister Roumen Ovcharov in northwestern city of Edirne to discuss the floods that have occurred in the city recently.
After the meeting that lasted for two hours, Guler told reporters that technical details regarding the construction of Su Akacagi dam to prevent floods would be completed on June 6th, 2006.
``Turkey and Bulgaria have been holding talks on this matter. Studies on the project will end in June. Our meeting on construction of Su Akacagi dam was fruitful,`` he stressed.
On the other hand, Ovcharov noted that the two countries would be in cooperation, stating that technical delegations were working on the project.
Floods hit Edirne in mid-March after Bulgaria opened its floodgates due to torrential rains. Flood waters submerged Edirne`s Karaagac district and the roads in the district were closed to traffic while many houses had to be evacuated.
