Turkey Elected Executive Council Member Of Unesco's Ioc Again

ANKARA - Turkey was elected member of the Executive Council of the UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) again for two years with 62 votes in IOC's 22nd General Assembly that took place at UNESCO House in Paris, France between June 24-July 4.
Releasing a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that the aim of the UNESCO's expert sub-organ IOC was to promote marine scientific investigations in member nations and related ocean services, with a view to learning more about the nature and resources of the oceans and develop cooperation among member nations in these fields.
The IOC Executive Council if responsible of fulfilling the missions given by the IOC General Assembly and implementing decisions of the UNESCO General Assembly.
