ISTANBUL - Security forces impounded 110 kg of heroin in an operation in Istanbul on Wednesday.
Istanbul Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah told reporters, ''acting on a tip-off, security forces launched a joint operation with German security forces.''
''Security forces stopped and searched a lorry which would leave for Germany by seaway at the Haydarpasa Port. They confiscated 110 kg of heroin hidden in secret parts of the vehicle. Three people were detained in the operation,'' he said.
Cerrah said, ''a total of 1.2 tones of heroin have been impounded since the beginning of the year. Our determined fight against illicit drug trafficking will continue.''
