ISTANBUL - An explosion occurred in a restaurant near service building of Provincial Directorate of Security in Gayrettepe district of Istanbul at about 4.30 a.m. on Wednesday. Three people were slightly injured in the explosion.
Sources told the A.A correspondent that the restaurant was closed when the explosion occurred. The explosion caused major damage in the restaurant.
Meanwhile, windows of neighboring business places and dwellings were shattered and some trees fell down.
Ismet Ozgur, his wife Nadiye Ozgur and their daughter Aylin Ozgur living in one of the neighboring apartments were injured when the broken window pieces fell on them.
They were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Security forces said that cause of the explosion could be compression of gas leaking from a LPG canister.
A full investigation in the explosion is under way.
