Turkey's consumer confidence index fell 0.62 percent in February from the previous month, indicating lessening optimism, Central Bank and Turkey Statistics Institute data showed.
The index, which measures spending patterns and expectations, fell to 101.1O points, above the 100 point mark which separates confidence from pessimism. The index had stood at 101.74 points in January.
In September 2005 the index had fallen to 95.5 points, the lowest level since the series began in December 2003.
The Turkish economy has recovered strongly from a serious financial crisis in 2001 under an economic programme backed by the International Monetary Fund. Inflation is sharply down, foreign investment is returning and consumer confidence is stronger.
