Turkish State Minister and EU chief negotiator Ali Babacan traveled to Stockholm at the invitation of Swedish Trade Minister Thomas Ostros, holding talks with Swedish officials on economic and political ties.
Speaking to reporters after his meetings, Babacan said EU member states are well aware of the reform steps Türkiye has taken over the past three years and view them favorably.
He told his Swedish counterparts that Türkiye's economic and business environment is open to foreign investment and urged Swedish companies to consider opportunities there. A Swedish business delegation was set to arrive in Istanbul the following day for further discussions.
Babacan also noted the broader importance of Scandinavian countries to Türkiye, saying economic, commercial, and political relations with the region deserve continued development. He departed for Türkiye after concluding his Stockholm schedule.
