ANKARA - Turkish Central Bank revealed on Thursday that its foreign currency reserves reached a new record level after rising by 160 million USD to 58.2 billion USD between March 10th and 17th, 2006.
Releasing a weekly press bulletin, the Central Bank indicated that its total gross reserves climbed by 2.5 billion USD to 82.2 billion USD on March 3rd, 2006. Of that, 21.2 billion USD was from privately-owned institutions, including commercial banks, while the Central Bank held the rest. Total gross reserves were 79.7 billion USD on February 24th, 2006.
Meanwhile, Turkey repaid 518 million USD in foreign debt between March 1st and 22nd, 2006.
