ADANA - U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Robert Pearson and U.S. Consul in Adana Greta Holtz hosted a reception on Tuesday to mark the 227th anniversary of the U.S.'s acquiring its independence.
Speaking at the reception held at the Jockey Club in southern province of Adana, Pearson said that relations between Turkey and the United States were gradually getting strong.
Stressing that things that had happened in the past should be forgotten, Pearson said that important developments like war and change of regime in Iraq.
Noting that Turkey and the United States had acted in solidarity and solved problems together, which was very appropriate especially during Iraq war, Pearson said, ''it was necessary for prosperity and future of Iraqi people.''
Stressing that he believed those relations would continue for long years, Pearson said that a white page had been opened between Turkey and the United States, and he did not doubt that good relations would be reflected in such pages.
Adana Governor Kemal Onal, Adana Mayor Aytac Durak, Adana Police Chief Huseyin Capkin, Adana State Security Court Chief Prosecutor Fevzi Elmas, 10th Tanker Base Commander Vice-General Levent Turkmen, German Honorary Consul in Adana Tevfik Kisacik, representatives of non-governmental organizations and a number of guests attended the reception.
