CANAKKALE - Illegal passages have not been occurred in Marmara and northern Aegean coasts in the last three months after the operation of the United States against Iraq.
Security forces and gendarme officials told A.A. correspondent that no illegal foreigners passage occurred in the last three months in Marmara and northern Aegean coasts where generally Iraqi foreigners were captured approximately twice a month.
Change of regime in Iraq after the operation and measures taken in Turkish borders become effective in the stopping of illegal passages.
Officials said, ''Coast Guards, besides gendarme forces, are continuing their controls in coordination in northern Aegean and Canakkale coasts which have the longest sea coast of Turkey with 671 kilometers. While ending of illegal foreigner passages does not loosen controls, security forces, who have gained experience from past events, are making these controls more effectively with the help of people.''
