ADANA - U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Robert Pearson, whose term in office has ended, paid a farewell visit to Adana Governor Kemal Onal on Tuesday.
Adana Consul Greta Holtz also attended the meeting. Onal thanked Pearson for his service to Turkish-American relations.
Upon question of reporters after the meeting regarding the activities for rebuilding of Iraq, Pearson said that Turkey's role was being discussed by concerned officials. He added that Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul would have a programmed visit to the United States in coming days and Turkey's role would be discussed in a more detailed way there.
Answering a question about Turkey's opening its bases and ports, Pearson said, ''Turkish government took this decision in line with the decision of the United Nations. Also, this decision is valid not only for the United States. Its details will be discussed.''
