NEW YORK - Turkish delight and halvah attracted great interest in food fair organized in New York.
A total of 36 Turkish companies join the 49th summer food fair which was opened in Javits Convention Center in New York the previous day, with contribution of Aegean Exporters Association.
Turkish food companies made many business deals during the fair while U.S. businessmen and people visiting the fair showed great interest to Turkish delight and halva.
Ziya Bese, owner of Bese company producing halvah and Turkish delight in western Izmir province since 1885, told A.A correspondent on Tuesday that they made 2.5 million U.S. dollars of export connection on the second day of the fair.
Bese noted that they aimed to increase their exports to 10 billion U.S. dollars annually.
A total of 2,300 companies from 41 countries and eight U.S. states joined this year's fair.
Besides food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were exhibited in the fair.
Turkish companies displayed olive oil, olive, canned fruit and vegetables, fruit juice, non-alcoholic beverages, biscuits, crackers, cakes, macaroni, dried tomato and tomato paste, dried fruit, honey, jam, chocolate, waffles, candies, Turkish delight, halvah, spices, cheese and milk products in the fair.
The fair will end later in the day.
