ISTANBUL - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc and Wolfgang Thierse, the Vice President of German Bundestag, inaugurated an exhibition entitled ''Ernst Barlach-The Sculptor of Modern Age'' in Turkish metropolis of Istanbul on Tuesday.
Ernst Barlach was a prominent German expressionist sculptor, graphic designer and writer. Although he was a supporter of the war in the years leading to World War I, his participation in the war made him change his position, and he is mostly known for his sculptures protesting against the war.
More than 50 sculptures and 100 graphics will be displayed in the exhibition inaugurated at the Tophane-i Amire Culture & Arts Center.
Meanwhile, another exhibition entitled ''Barlach and Goethe'' was opened in Goethe Institut Teutonia in Tunel, Istanbul.
Both exhibitions will stay open till April 30th.
They will be inaugurated in capital Ankara as of May 8th.
