ISTANBUL - Turkish mountaineers will climb to the Mount Everest, Petrol Ofisi DG Jan Nahum said on Tuesday.
Holding a press conference in Istanbul, Nahum indicated that the mountaineers would depart from Turkey on March 27th.
On the other hand, sources said that the journey of 2006 Turkey Everest Team would last till June 10th, and the mountaineers would purse the northern route to reach the 8850-meter summit.
According to the sources, this will be the first time when a Turkish woman mountaineer will try to climb to the Mount Everest.
The group is comprised of Bora Mavis, Burcak Ozoglu Pocan, Eylem Elif Mavis, Hakan Kocakulak, Haldun Ulkenli, Meltem Colak Ozmine, Mustafa Cihan, Serhan Pocan, Serkan Girgin, Soner Buyukatalay and Suna Yilmaz.
