DIYARBAKIR - Seven police officers were injured when demonstrators hurled stones during Nevruz festivities in southeastern cities of Diyarbakir and Sirnak.
Wide-scale measures were taken during the celebrations in Diyarbakir. Some people reacted to police who wanted to make a body search and in an ensuing fight 6 policemen were injured.
One policeman was injured in Silopi township in Sirnak province when some people threw stones on police panzer. Those injured were hospitalized.
Foreign journalists from German ARD, Japanese NHK, Qatar`s El Cezire and British BBC televisions cover the celebrations in Diyarbakir.
Meanwhile, Acting Chief Police of southern city of Mersin Suleyman Ekizer said 10 people who tried to stage illegal demonstrations were taken into custody.
Ekizer said, ``nobody has the right to disrupt tranquility of society.``
