ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul underwent a successful surgery at Ankara's Gulhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) on Monday for trauma in his inner ear stemming from upper respiratory tract infection and cabin pressure.
Namik Tan, spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the A.A that Gul had been suffering from a serious respiratory infection for nearly 10 days.
''A trauma developed in his inner ear due to cabin pressure aboard the plane on his way to Tunisia. Therefore, FM Gul underwent a surgery at the GATA. His doctors told us that he was in good condition. He will be discharged from hospital soon,'' Tan added.
