Westmacott Visits Izmir Governor Goksu

IZMIR - Izmir Governor Yusuf Ziya Goksu on Thursday called on foreign investors to invest more in Aegean Izmir province.
British Ambassador in Ankara Peter Westmacott and Izmir Consul A. Willy Buttigieg visited Goksu.
Calling on economic relations between Turkey and Britain to be further improved, Goksu said, ''Mr. Ambassador closely covers Aegean Free Zone. About 3-4 British companies have investments here. There are important developments between KIPA and British company Tesco. Even if this is not a joint venture, we know that the British company purchased goods from Turkey worth of more than 200 million U.S. dollars. They may purchase high quality goods from Izmir like olive oil. Economic relations can be further improved.''
Westmacott said foreign capital and tourism incomes were very important for Turkey, adding that Britain exerted efforts for Turkey to participate in the EU. He said they were ready to expend every necessary support to improve relations.
