Amendment To Constitution's Article 76 On Eligibility To Be Deputy

ANKARA - The Parliamentary Constitution Commission approved on Thursday the law which envisages amendment to three articles of the Constitution without making any change.
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer had vetoed the law in question and sent it back to the parliament for its discussion once again.
Under the law, the age of eligibility to be a deputy is decreased from 30 to 25, and the Constitution's Article 76 on 'Eligibility to be a Deputy' is amended as ''every Turk over the age of 25 is eligible to be a deputy.''
In line with the law, the Constitution's Article 169 on 'Protection and Development of Forests' is also amended. The rule of 'State forests shall be managed and exploited by the State in accordance with the law' is amended as 'State forests shall be managed and exploited by the State and the State shall give authority for management and exploitation of State forests'.
Meanwhile, under the law, the Constitution's Article 170 on 'Protection of the Inhabitants of Forest Villages' is amended completely.
