CANAKKALE - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has indicated today that the Canakkale Battles have prominent place in both Turkish and world history.
''The Canakkale battles have a special place in Turkish and world history based on the patriotism, sacrifice and bravery displayed,'' said Erdogan.
Participating in ceremonies to celebrate the Canakkale Naval Victory in Canakkale's 90th Year Cultural Center, Erdogan stressed that no battle front has had such an impact on world history as Canakkale.
The Canakkale Epic was realized with the contribution of Turks from all parts of the country, told Erdogan. Erdogan added that Turkey remembers the martyrs of Canakkale and those that followed in later years with great respect and honor.
Meanwhile, in a ceremony organized in southern City of Mersin's cemetery, an imam and a priest from Mersin's Italian Church prayed together for Turkish martyrs.
