Denktas: Basis Of Peace And Compromise Will Be State

LEFKOSA - President Rauf Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Wednesday, ''the basis of peace and compromise will be the state. If we give up our state, we will become a minority.''
Addressing journalists, President Denktas said, ''we can live with Greek Cypriots in peace. However, they should recognize our presence, equality, sovereignty and state. Turkish Cypriots working in the Greek Cypriot side, have many difficulties. They were exposed to insults. Our people are forced to work without any social security. I want to reiterate that the Greek Cypriot side should recognize our presence, equality, sovereignty and state to live together in peace.''
''Our state is our most important gain. If we give up our state, we will become a minority. We should tell our national case to the next generations,'' he added.
