Unakitan Returns From Romania

ISTANBUL - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan returned from Romania on Tuesday.
Unakitan held a press conference at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
Unakitan, who was in Romania as the guest of his counterpart, said that he was received by Romanian President and Prime Minister and added that they sent greetings to President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Noting that he had held meetings on ministerial level, Unakitan said that their aim, while visiting Romania, was to increase the relations between two countries and bring economic relations to further levels.
Recalling that relations of Romania, which was among the countries to access the European Union (EU), had always become good with Turkey, Unakitan said, ''potentials between two countries are too many. We had chance to meet with our businessmen in Romania. Romanian ministers of finance and privatization also attended the meeting. They listened to our businessmen and took notes.''
Unakitan said that trade volume between Turkey and Romania had reached 1.2 billion U.S. dollars and he added that he believed this figure would be better in coming dates.
