STRASBOURG - Council of Europe (COE) Commissioner Alvaro Gil Robles for Human Rights said on Monday that he was monitoring reforms in Turkey in human rights with admiration.
Gil Robles met with Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (COEPA) Turkish Delegation Chairman Murat Mercan.
Speaking at the meeting, Gil Robles said that he was monitoring the Turkish government's reforms with admiration.
He stressed that Turkey should maintain its efforts to remove some difficulties in putting into practice these reforms.
Sources said that during the meeting between Mercan and Gil Robles, reforms about human rights and democracy were taken up in detail.
Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) Commission wanted Gil Robles to submit his report about Turkey to the COE prior to release of the Progress Report in October.
