NEW YORK - Istanbul Technical University (ITU) will sign an agreement regarding the fashion school which it will open in New York to carry its success in textile production of Turkey to the fields of design and marketing of textile productions.
ITU will give education about fashion design, textile management and marketing in ''ITU Gumussuyu Fashion School'' which will be opened jointly with Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) that is one of the leading names among fashion schools of the world with its more than 11 thousand students for 50 years.
Fashion school will be opened in 2003-2004 education year and students will be trained in Istanbul for 2,5 years and then complete the rest of their education in FIT campus in New York.
This initiative which will have an important contribution to Turkish textile will become official with the agreement to be signed by ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Gulsun Saglamer and FIT President Dr. Joyce Brown. Signing ceremony will be held in FIT building in Fashion Avenue.
Brown said that they would guide ITU in educating people who would work in fashion industry. Saglamer said that the project would contribute to educate leaders whom Turkish textile industry needed.
FIT has similar agreements with schools in China, India, Israel, Brazil, Egypt, Philippines, Japan and Italy.
