TRABZON - The 4-people delegation, comprised of one Portuguese and three Turkish citizens, assigned by Prime Ministry Human Rights Chairmanship, started contacts in Black Sea Trabzon province on Monday.
Project Coordinator Emel Uresin told a statement that their target was to inform the society about human rights and to decrease human rights violations to the minimum level.
Uresin said they would arrange 16 seminars in five separate regions in Turkey in this respect, stating that European Union and Council of Europe financed the project which is expected to continue for 18 months.
Uresin stressed that they expected that changes and developments would be recorded in Turkey in the field of human rights at the end of the project, and that, ''establishment of Prime Ministry Human Rights Chairmanship and Human Rights Provincial Boards is an indication of the importance Turkey attributes to human rights. With the project, we will determine the problems in human rights and the methods that would be used in solution of those problems.''
