ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Monday that what was important on Cyprus was to reach a ``satisfactory plan``.
Gul returned to Turkey after participating in World Economic Forum meetings in Jordan.
Gul evaluated his contacts and responded to the questions of reporters at Ankara`s Esenboga Airport.
Responding to a question regarded with resumption of talks within the scope of U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan`s plan, Gul said, ``it was not important whether it is Annan plan or another plan. What is important is to reach a satisfactory plan whatever name you give to it. This is important for us.``
When asked whether or not they considered the plan as basis within the scope of the process, Gul said the U.N. Secretary General did not lose interest, and that the U.N. would continue to play role for a lasting peace.
Gul said that Turkey appreciated the activities of the United Nations, but the plan which was put forth was not appreciatory. He added that ``if changes, which could be accepted, were made on this plan, then why not.``
Noting that he had chance to hold many bilateral meetings during World Economic Forum, Gul said that Palestinian Foreign Minister Nebil Saat and Foreign Minister of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey would pay visits to Turkey in coming days.
Recalling that he had met with Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou, Gul said that they had taken up many issues between Turkey and Greece in their meeting. Noting that Papandreou would visit Turkey in a close time, Gul said that Turkey and Greece were two countries which had determination to solve problems by talking.
Gul said that he had also met with World Economic Forum Founder and President Klaus Schwab, adding that, ``I suggested him to hold Davos meeting in Turkey in 2005.``
Noting that Schwab had approached the suggestion positively, Gul said that activities regarding the issue would start recently.
